Senior Administrative Assistant

Dear Miss Bressey:

\J	This is in reply to your request for information about
Bruce Anderson.

Mr. Anderson's strong points are a critical approach to the problems
in artificial intelligence, computer science, and philosophy that he
has attacked. He is not satisfied with superficial approaches and makes
a real effort to find the approaches that will allow fundamental progress.
He has good familiarity with what other people have done whether this
is published or not. His weakness is related to his strength; namely he
has difficulty getting out of critic mode into programming mode.
I would say that his critical ability and his knowledge of what has
been done are quite exceptional.

Since Professor Jerry Feldman has supervised Bruce Anderson's work
here at the AI Laboratory and has worked more closely with him than I, I would suggest that you rely more heavily on his
evaluation of specific accomplishments.\.

						Sincerely yours,
